11:00 AM
Rain, rain, go away!  Track action delayed this AM to continue track drying.
Hoping for some decent time for these teams to get on track today.  But, boy oh
boy, it's cold today!  I brought enough clothes to last a year here in Indy, but
didn't think I'd really need my winter coat and gloves (no joke)!  Radar looks iffy
for the rest of today, but I'm sure the teams will be thankful for any track time
they get because of the shortened schedule and totally losing a day of practice
on Monday - the first time that's happened since 2008.

1:00 PM
Track finally dry enough to start practice!  Green Flag!!  Lots and lots of cars
taking to the track right off the bat, as they don't know how long this dry weather
will last.  However, hearing many of them may not do a ton of laps today because
it's so cold, and whatever they learn today might not translate to Qualifying or
Race Day weather.

Getting a little tired of a certain "red car" driven by former winner Scott Dixon
being at the top of the speed chart, as he makes this place look so easy
(although big credit to that team for being so well prepared).  But it was nice to
see Mario Moraes in P1 for a while.  He did have a little "whoopsie" and brushed
the wall after that speed run, but it wasn't too serious.

The IMS Media Center has a new inhabitant this year - Leah, a tiny "hearing
dog," helping her owner Anne Proffit to navigate life a little easier for her
hard-of-hearing master.  Leah's already been to around 10 races this year, and
has been a great help to Anne, who introduces all of her media friends to Leah
as "Aunt Janie" or "Uncle Bob" - very cute.  I'm a dog lover, and have had to use
a lot of restraint to not spend all of my time playing with the pup.

So far, it's been a good trip.  I haven't crashed anything, broken anything, or lost
anything...yet.

Rest of the week's weather looks to be improving (70's and partly sunny each
day), culminating in a great qualifying weekend weather forecast - mid-80's and
SUNNY!  The crowds should be HUGE!

4:00 PM
Actress Ashley Judd, wife of Dario Franchitti, is here at the track today.

Arie Luyendyk, Jr. scored a ride for Carb Day's Freedom 100 Firestone Indy
Lights race, getting the Anderson Racing seat.

The Curb/Agajanian #98 entry has been withdrawn from competition.

Indianapolis 500 veteran Paul Tracy will drive in the new series "Battle of the
Supercars" on SPEED.  Tracy and Formula Drift Champion Tanner Foust will drive
in some of the most exotic cars, including models from Ferrari, Lamborghini,
Borsche and other manufacturers.  The show, hosted by Lee Reherman, is
scheduled to start at 10 p.m. (ET) on July 22.

Bruno Junqueira, expected to drive for the FAZZT team, Oriol Servia, Buddy
Lazier and Jaques Lazier are all rideless for this year's 500, but still walking the
pits hoping to secure a ride for the big race.

6:00 PM
Track time ended about 10 minutes early after a hard crash by E.J. Viso, who
backed into Turn One.  Scary!  He was removed from the car and transported by
ambulance to Methodist Hospital where he will go through a variety of tests.

UPDATE:  At around 11:00 PM, Viso was released from Methodist Hospital after
being examined by famed orthopedic surgeon Dr. Terry Trammell.  All of the
tests were negative, but Viso will be re-examined tomorrow before being
cleared to drive.
