2010 INDIANAPOLIS 500 LIVE UPDATES Thursday, May 20, 2010

11:00 AM
Oh Happy Sunshine! Finally a great weather day (so far - rain is coming). It's
warm, and there's a ton of people streaming into the Indianapolis Motor
Speedway for what could be deemed "Fast Thursday," as Fast Friday weather
does not look too promising. There should be a massive amount of laps turned
today in conditions that the teams will deem to be closer to qualifying weather
and/or Race Day. This may be the last time the smaller teams can be on track to
find that elusive speed they'll need to make it into the fastest 33.
Happy 39th Birthday to my friend and former employer, Tony Stewart!
Bruno Junqueira will be in the #29 car assigned to Sebastian Saavedra to start
the day today to help him get more speed for qualifying on Saturday.

Have been having big problems with this website and my ability to update it -
sorry for the lack of updates.
Have had a lot of laps turned today. Weather was supposed to be great, but rain
has been threatening all day, and the wind has kicked up.
As opposed to other years, there's not a lot of rumor/gossip going around the
garage area - probably due to the lack of available spare cars. The drivers who
are out there now are most likely the drivers who will be qualifying.
One exception may be some of the drivers who have really had trouble getting
up to speed, surprisingly - namely Sarah Fisher and Tomas Scheckter. Tomas is
a contender any time he races here, and Sarah's an oval specialist who usually is
solidly in the field. Sarah has taken herself out of her car on the road courses
(to allow Graham Rahal to play a bit), but Indy's another situation. Will Dollar
General let someone else qualify that car if Sarah's in trouble on Sunday? That
would be a blow to the entire program that Sarah's impressively built up over the
past few years.
For a Thursday, there's an enormous amount of people here today. I even got in
a traffic jam on the way in...on a Thursday, really? For the amount of (or lack of)
time the cars have been on the track this week, there's been a bit of a buzz.
5:00 PM
Rain has arrived at IMS, and the track is now closed for the day - boo!
