2010 INDIANAPOLIS 500 LIVE UPDATES Friday, May 21, 2010

12:00 PM
Cloudy, but fairly warm day today, and no rain yet! But it's coming! Track is open
for business and cars are on the Speedway hoping to slip in as many laps as
possible before the rain drops arrive. And trust me, everyone but the "big three
teams" needs it.
Qualifying draw for tomorrow's Pole Day activities is tonight on the Coca-Cola
Stage in the Pagoda Plaza.
Three-time Indy winner Bobby Unser has spent a lot of time in the IMS Media
Center this month!
The new Delta Wing concept car up for consideration in 2012 is on display for the
next few days in front of the Pagoda - will head down in a bit to check it out (with
photos coming).
Paul Tracy is pushing it today, getting closer and closer and closer to the wall
with each lap until he finally brushed it. No yellow, but you can tell he's on the
edge (as usual).
Although Scott Dixon was up over 226 mph with only a few laps in the books
today, it's now Will Power at the top of the charts. He was quite confident of his
ability to get the pole during an AM press conference. Could Penske have been
sandbagging all week - nah! ; )
Sarah still struggling early today - worried for her qualification efforts. But, the
temperature and track conditions will be completely different over the weekend,
as the teams have not practiced at all in any sun or anything over 80 degrees.
Maybe a hot, slick track will suit her car setup better.
Whew! Scheckter is in the ballpark, finally - up over 224 mph! He'll be fine over
the weekend (he adds so much excitement to this race).
At this rate, the big story of the day won't be who will get the Pole, it will be if
Scott Dixon doesn't.
Many thanks to IMS for serving the media such yummy food this week!
