4:05 pm
All track activity has been cancelled for today, with not a single lap being
run by anyone.  UGH!  It's going to be an insane rest of the week.  Indy is
the first oval on the IndyCar schedule, and with 40 drivers entered, there's
a lot of non-regular pilots entered who absolutely need the track time
before qualifying.  Don't think too many teams will focus on race set  up
tomorrow, as they've had NO time to get the speed for qualifications this
weekend, and qualifying for this race will be tough!  It will be agony for
some talented drivers to be bumped on the Centennial Race!

Saw a very friendly pow-wow between Roger Penske, Tim Cindric
(Penske Prez) and A.J. Foyt on pit lane - laughing and joking together.
Nice!

Right after that, I was taking a gander at the new Dallara on display under
the Pagoda when Ryan Briscoe and a team member walked up to do the
same.  Soon thereafter, Penske and Cindric joined the group and took
quite a long time to study the newly designed machine.  Wonder what was
going through their minds regarding the future of the sport?

For a rainy, middle-of-the-week day, there were quite a few people in and
around the garage area (creating a tiny bit of a Tuesday Buzz).

Awesome to see the support USAC racer Bryan Clauson is getting here at
IMS this week.  He'll attempt the "double" a week from Friday (Carb Day)
by participating in the Firestone Freedom 100 Indy Lights race here at IMS,
then traveling down the road to the Indiana State Fairgrounds for the
Hoosier 100 USAC Silver Crown race, once again creating a link between
short-track open-wheel aces and the Indy 500/IndyCar series (thanks to
IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard's initiative).  It will be a great story to follow
throughout the rest of the month!

Retired IndyCar driver Roberto Guerrero was getting quite a bit of
attention in the garage area - a nice welcome back!

The only driver I've seen so far walking the garage area that is not
assigned to a car yet is Jaques Lazier.

1:20 pm
Track driers out and circling IMS - a good sign, I think!

12 Noon
Track is still closed due to wet weather.  Light rain and occasional
showers expected today.  A bit warmer than yesterday - low 60s.  Hoping
to see some on-track activity before the day ends.

Teams start the first week of practice thinking they've got a lot of time to
get up to speed.  But with this horrible Indiana weather this week whereby
several days have been washed out (only Mike Conway and Marco
Andretti ran laps yesterday - less than 10 for each), the teams will now
have to scramble to get their program together for Saturday's Pole Day
Qualifications.
