Just.  Simply.  Unbelievable.  One of the best Indy 500 race finishes EVER.
So sad for JR Hildebrand and the entire Panther Racing Crew - this is the
fourth year they've finished 2nd at this race.  But I'm really happy for Dan
Wheldon and the Bryan Herta Autosports team, one of the
smallest/newest in the garage area.  Hope this springboards them into the
big time, and allows them to run Dan for more than this one race (he
contract was for one race and runs out tonight at midnight).

After that unbelievable finish, the crowd was literally silent - I don't think
anyone could believe what just happened.  I still don't - still trying to
process how it all played out.

Race replay here in Indy tonight at 7pm on WRTV-6.

More than 200 photos from today posted above.  Enjoy!

7:00 am
Welcome to RACE DAY for the 100th Anniversary of the Indianapolis 500-
Mile Race!

Gorgeous day outside...for once!  Already in the mid-70s!  Got in super
early this AM - before the bomb went off - so traffic wasn't bad for me, but
am hearing that it's horrendous right now (great sign for the race).

Lots of amazing events leading up to the start of the race at 12:15 pm,
including the Hot Wheels "Fearless at the 500" stunt we've been hearing
about so much (and watching the ramp and structures get built this whole
month).  Gonna try to set a world record!

Another fun thing and something new to celebrate this historic 100th
anniversary is a DOUBLE flyover today - one at the start of the race, and
one at the end.  The starting flyover will be by Northrop Grumman B-2
Spirit "Stealth Bomber"; the one to end the race will be a U.S. Navey A-4
Skyhawk and a T-2C Buckeye, followed by four U.S. Navy F/A-18E Super
Hornets.  Was pretty cool yesterday being here as they practiced!

This is a HUGE day for images - there's not many words that can describe
what it's like at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Race Day.  Besides
that, there's too much going on outside and on the track!  Will keep
updates coming when time is available, but check back at the end of the
day for a massive amount of photos!
