APR POWERBOAT SUPERLEAGUE RACE INFORMATION
The main event for the Lake Erie boat Week event will take place in the
Huron (OH) Boat Basin, inside the Huron River. The event will include an
APR Powerboat Superleague race, held completely within the confines of
the River, and within great viewing distance to the shoreline where
spectators can watch all of the on-water activities (mere feet).
On shore, the "Racer’s Village" will be set up in the adjacent River's
Edge Inn parking lot, with easy spectator access to not only the on-water
action throughout the weekend via the Huron Boat Basin park, but up-
close access to the spectacular racing machines and the men and
women who pilot them via the nearby pier - all within the beautifully
maintained Huron Boat Basin Park and surrounding areas.
The Racer’s Village, or “dry pits,” will be the heart and headquarters of
the event, and will be where all race teams set up their boats to be
worked on (on shore), with their haulers and hospitality areas nearby.
The area will also host the APR staff, and will be surrounded with
vendors and entertainment in the Boat Basin park and Ampitheater areas
(three bands per day; kid’s area; alcohol will be served for those age 21
The official kick-off to the weekend will take place on Thursday, Sept.
9th, when the “Fastest Boat on Lake Erie” Competition takes place inside
the Huron River, completely accessible to the public.
The celebration continues Friday, Sept. 10th, where on- and off-water
entertainment will fill the day, all celebrating the incredible boating
atmosphere of the Lake Erie Shores and Islands area. The party will
continue with autographs and interaction with the professional boat
racers in Racer's Village, where the fans and public will be able to kick-
off the weekend with the speed demons up-close-and-personal, and will
be allowed to meet and greet the racers of the APR during an Autograph
Session and Racer’s Welcome Party.
The racers will test and qualify on Saturday from approximately 10:30 AM
until 4:00 PM, and will conduct their races on Sunday from approximately
10:30 AM until 4:00 PM, with the Award’s Ceremony taking place
afterwards on the Ampitheater stage.
This will be a major national media event, attracting national magazine,
television, newspaper, radio and Internet coverage. There will also be a
major webcast production of all aspects of Lake Erie Boat Week that will
